As we age, most of us will need some help with our vision, whether for reading or for reading and seeing things at a distance. With age, just like the muscles in our body, the muscles in our eyes stiffen, so adjusting to different focal lengths can become difficult. However, at Respectacle Company, we have all the solutions to help.
Over the last few years, Manor Walk has transformed into a well-being destination within Market Harborough. Not only has Respectacle been serving the local community with our eye care services for the last eight years – and TJ Hanby for 32 years before that – but we now offer hearing services in Manor Walk following the arrival of The Hearing Centre right next door.
We’re only three months into 2024, and it has already been a significant year for Respectacle Company. As of January, the optical has been open for eight years. This year also marks the considerable milestone of 40 years in the optical industry for our Optometrist, Mr Tim Hanby.
Tim qualified in February 1984 and has been providing optical services to the good people of Market Harborough ever since. He started his Optometry career with the Co-op Opticians in the High Street in Market Harborough before moving to the newly built units on Manor Walk. You may or may not remember, but after a few years, the Co-op pulled out of the optical business. So, Tim took over the complete operation. He continued as T J Hanby Opticians until we joined forces eight years ago, in January 2016.
I want to tell you a story, as Max Bygraves used to say. Although I warn you, it may turn into some ramblings, like Ronnie Corbett sat in his chair telling his long-winded joke at the end of his show in the 1970s and 1980s. Yes, I know, I’m showing my age!
Usually, when I write a blog, I pick a subject or a current event and write about it. But this time, I want to tell you a story. So, in light of that fact (pardon the pun!) I shall begin.
