Channel your inner Emily in Paris in L.G.R Sunglasses

So, Emily is back in Paris. Finally, after a whopping 20-month wait – the third season aired in December 2022! Having enjoyed the previous three seasons, I was excited to see the first half of season four drop on Netflix in August, with the concluding half of the series having just recently reached our screens.

Whilst the show is full of pretty people and focuses on Emily’s love interests (FYI, I can never decide whether I’m Team Alfie or Team Gabriel!), I find myself tuning in each season to see the bold fashion looks, some of which are frighteningly over the top. But then, that’s half the fun!

If you’re familiar with the show, I’m sure you’d agree that it rattles along at an enjoyable pace and is a fun and easy watch. Who doesn’t like a bit of escapism telly? Despite the cheesy storylines, it’s worth a watch for the characters, gorgeous scenery and memorable fashion moments.

As someone who loves eyewear as much as I do, I particularly love to see the stylish sunglasses the costume designers choose to accessorise each of the characters. Like many eye-catching outfits, the statement eyewear pieces are playful, bold and colourful – a reminder that glasses can be functional and fun. Something we always advocate for.

L.G.R is one of the eyewear brands featured in Emily in Paris. It’s a lovely handmade Italian collection which we are proud to stock. The titular character, Emily, wears a model called Twiga. It’s a beautiful retro-style cream sunglass frame with Havana sides. It pairs beautifully with Emily’s bold outfits. But for the more modest wearer, the Twiga is also available in several different Havana combos and the all-time classic black.

Now, you can’t go wrong with a classic black sunglass frame because it’s timeless and always in vogue. In season two, Emily’s friend and confidant Camille wore an L.G.R model called Oasi in black. Fashionista and Emily’s boss Sylvie alternates between model Sofia – which she wears in red – and Palma and Orchid, both in Havana hues. Again, both models come in a selection of colour combinations. So, there’s an option for everyone.

Have you been watching Emily in Paris? I’d love to know what you think of the latest instalment. And whether you’re Team Gabriel or Team Alfie, of course!

From Emily’s adventures in Paris to the escapades of Tom Ripley in New York and Italy

Emily in Paris isn’t the only Netflix show to showcase the L.G.R brand. Earlier in the year, I enjoyed watching Ripley, a limited series adapted from a 1955 crime novel called The Talented Mr. Ripley. If you haven’t read the book, chances are you know the 1999 movie of the same name.

Released in April, Ripley is a chilling crime thriller set in the 1960’s. In New York, a down-on-his-luck con man, Tom Ripley, is hired to travel to Italy to try and persuade a wealthy businessman’s wayward son to return home. But once Tom enters Dickie Greenleaf’s comfortable, relaxed way of life, he steps into a world of fraud, deception and even murder.

Dickie Greenleaf (Johnny Flynn) in Sahara

Marge Sherwood (Dakota Fanning) in Simba

Quite fittingly with the history of L.G.R. eyewear – and the series set in the 1960s – the main characters all wear L.G.R models. Both Tom and Dickie wear a classic L.G.R model called the Sahara. We see them in different colour combinations and both ophthalmic and sunglass frames. Dickie’s girlfriend Marge Sherwood wears another model, the Simba, in a classic Havana. You can shop Marge’s Simba frame here.

L.G.R eyewear is often featured in Netflix shows and big-screen productions. You can spot the brand in Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation and Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Other models like the Reunion have popped up in The Sandman. The iconic Reunion has also made a guest appearance in the Netflix movie Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, and the James Bond film No Time to Die. The Reunion has always been one of L.G.R’s bestsellers. Currently, we only have the Reunion Bold in Champagne in stock. New Autumn/Winter models will arrive in store later in the season.

Overall, L.G.R is a beautifully understated but expertly crafted collection of eyewear, full of timeless, stylish and classic pieces deserving of their place on the big and small screens. We are lucky to showcase them here in Market Harborough on Manor Walk.

Whether you want to recreate the chic Parisian style of Emily Cooper or the sophisticated style of Tom Ripley and Dickie Greenleaf, we can help. Visit the store to view and try on frames from the L.G.R collection.

If you can’t get to our physical store in Market Harborough, you can also shop a selection of  L.G.R frames online. But please do pop in if you can, we’d love to see you!
