Spotlight on Theo Eyewear

When we were in the early stages of opening our Market Harborough opticians practise, we knew that Theo was one of the eyewear brands we simply had to have in our collection. We wanted to bring exciting eyewear to the lovely people of Market Harborough. And since 2016 we’ve made it our mission to work with brands that are fresh, fun and a little bit different compared to the mainstream mass produced frames. Theo certainly fits the bill.

So if you’ve never heard of the company before, let’s start with a little background information. Theo is an eyewear brand from Antwerp in Belgium, a beautiful European city known for its somewhat avant-garde approach to fashion. The company launched their very first collection back in 1989 and they have achieved notable success in the eyewear market ever since. Most recently, the company was awarded best technical frame in the 2019 LOFTxTEF Awards for their new aluminium Apollo design.

But let’s not get too ahead of ourselves. Flashback to 1987 and the founders of Theo, Wim Somers and Patrick Hoet had their own stores. But they had become disillusioned with the mainstream, generic glasses they were showcasing to their customers. The lack of originality in the eyewear market at the time inspired these two opticians to launch their own range of glasses. And so Theo eyewear –  which is an anagram of Hoet – was born.

From day one Somers and Hoet were fiercely determined to design and produce eyewear that was aesthetically different from anything else available on the market. They wanted their glasses to be eye-catching, statement pieces that would get people talking and leave a lasting impression. We’d say they’ve certainly managed to do just that! In fact, some of our Theo-wearing customers have been stopped in the street and asked where they got their glasses from.

Aside from their good looks, Theo frames are extremely well made. They are produced in specialised factories to the highest standards. Each frame is crafted lovingly by hand and meticulously inspected. The team at Theo love eyewear and are deeply dedicated to their craft.

You see, Theo eyewear is so much more than just an optical aid. Their glasses are an accessory of your style and personality. The frames are designed to be expressive, distinctive and trendsetting. Combining bright bold colours, Theo glasses are edgy and quirky. Some might even say a little outrageous in design. Think striking and flamboyant. If you like to wear glasses that are an extension of your unique personality – and not just to help you see – Theo is a brand you need to get to know.

Here at Respectacle you won’t find any mass produced frames sitting on our shelves. But you will find cool, quirky and unique frames from the world’s best eyewear designers. And we are proud to be one of Theo’s UK stockists.

We’d really love you to come and take a closer look at our stunning collection of Theo eyewear. Our shop is open Tuesday to Friday, between 9AM to 5PM, and 9AM. We also open every Saturday from 9AM to 4PM. If you’re not familiar with Market Harborough, you’ll find our optical boutique in Manor Walk, just off Coventry Road. If you’d like to know more about Theo eyewear, fill out the contact form on our website or please give us a call on 01858 433 577. One of our friendly team will be happy to help you find the perfect pair of Theo glasses to help you  see the world – and change the way the world sees you.
