Spotlight on February 31st Eyewear
We’ve recently added a new eyewear brand to our ever growing collection of luxury spectacles called FEB 31st. We at Respectacle Company are so excited about this beautiful handmade Italian collection, so naturally we wanted to introduce the product to our lovely customers and explain the concept, the manufacturing process and the philosophy behind the company.
Every year we attend most of the optical trade fairs around the world, so we can view the latest releases from our tried and tested brands. But it also gives us the opportunity to seek out new and innovative collections emerging onto the market. As you can imagine, we see a lot of new and interesting eyewear collections. You can tell a lot about the quality of the spectacle frames by visiting these trade fairs. It’s the best platform for frame companies to showcase their products.
As much as we’re always on the look out for new eyewear collections to offer our customers, we need to completely believe in our products and have the conviction that what we offer is of the highest quality. In order to do that, we like to delve deeper into the brands by thoroughly researching each collection before committing to stocking a brand. This is what we did with FEB 31st eyewear.
We’re very lucky that Robert travels extensively around the globe and visits many optical stores and opticians, as well as technical laboratories and glazing companies. It’s during the time he spends within the industry that he can really get to know a spectacle collection, professional views about the product, the technicalities of glazing, how the product has been received by customers and the general enthusiasm about the frames.
FEB 31st eyewear was one of many wooden eyewear brands emerging onto the market, when Robert first started to see it at the trade shows he was visiting. Colleagues also started to talk about FEB 31st glasses and the reviews from people within the industry were very complimentary.
But is was wood and there were other wooden frames entering the market. What made FEB 31st glasses really stand out to us was their proven track record in wooden products and longstanding family history steeped in wood. They started three generations ago making wooden handles for shaving brushes before moving through the generations into making baseball bats for the American market. After eventually selling that side of the business, they moved into designing frames for the eyewear industry.
The reason we love FEB 31st is because it’s all about the wood. There are plenty of eyewear collections manufactured out of wood, but most of them just have wooden components rather than the complete frame being constructed from wood. We also love how each FEB 31st frame is unique and personal to the customer. There are 43 different colours to choose from which can be sandwiched together in any thirteen-layer combination. The layers are pressed together with a couple of very thin flexible materials to give structure and flexibility of the frame.
What the customer receives is a truly unique spectacle frame that they have designed, which is very light weight but very strong. You can see the unique manufacturing process on our website and come into the store to view the array of different colour combinations available. We’re confident you’re going to fall just as much in love with FEB 31st glasses as we have.
We’re thrilled to be able to bring FEB 31st eyewear to the good people of Market Harborough. To find out more, please visit our store in Manor Walk. We’re open Tuesday through to Thursday, 9AM to 5PM, and 9AM to 4PM on Saturdays. Alternatively, give us a call on 01858 433 577 during opening hours.
