Eye Health and Innovation: The Body Doctor LifeMeter Screening at Respectacle

Earlier this year, we organised a LifeMeter Screening Day in conjunction with The Body Doctor, and it was so well-received that we invited them back to host another day dedicated to proactive eye health, education, and community care. Held in early October, the event brought together innovation and expertise to empower our patients with a deeper understanding of ocular health. But also, how diet and lifestyle choices can influence overall wellbeing, particularly eye health.
LifeMeter Screening is a Quick, Non-Invasive Way to Check Your Eye Health
The LifeMeter by The Body Doctor is an advanced screening device designed to accurately and painlessly measure the concentration of carotenoids in your skin. These carotenoid levels are strongly linked to macular pigment density, circulating antioxidants, and the presence of these essential nutrients in vital organs such as the heart and brain
Throughout the day, visitors were invited to experience a quick, non-invasive scan using the LifeMeter. This was followed by personalised consultations with Aden from The Body Doctor. Aden provided invaluable advice regarding possible diet and lifestyle changes to improve absorption levels of certain key nutrients, such as lutein, meso-zeaxanthin, and zeaxanthin. By improving the levels of carotenoids within our bodies, we can help reduce the risk of future macular issues and possible links to Alzheimer’s disease.

What made the day truly special was the response from our local community, with patients of all ages visiting Respectacle Company. Some came for a follow-up after attending the previous LifeMeter Screening, eager to see if the changes they had implemented since February had made any improvement in their carotenoid levels. But we also had some people visiting for the first time, which was lovely to see.
Our space on Manor Walk in Market Harborough was alive with energy and curiosity. Countless cups of tea and coffee – and more than a few biscuits – were consumed as we chatted about all things eyes, from The Body Doctor’s award-winning eye care range to our unique and exclusive eyewear collections.
As independent opticians, we believe eye care should be proactive, not just reactive. The LifeMeter Screening Day perfectly aligned with that philosophy, allowing us to check, educate, and advise our patients according to their individual needs, all within a relaxed and friendly environment.
