Glasses wearing celebrities like what we like

As a small independent optical boutique, when we opened almost seven years ago, we decided not to stock what we refer to as mass-produced handbag brands. Our aim at Respectacle Company has always been to offer high-quality, well-engineered eyewear and ophthalmic lenses. Mass-produced products are poorer in quality and not something we offer.

We pride ourselves in sourcing eyewear manufactured using quality materials and technically skilled processes. Our customers tell us they visit us because we can offer something different from many high street opticians, especially the big well-known franchise stores. Customers from across the country travel to experience our service and discover our fabulous range of eyewear.

Here at Respectacle Company, we offer something different. All our partner brands only produce eyewear. They don’t expand into other fashion products or licence the brand name to other companies. And many of the brands we partner with are beloved by fashion-conscious celebrities who want individuality and style. So, let’s look at some of the famous faces who like what we like.

Bake Off’s Prue Leith wears Theo

We love Theo, and our customers love this Belgium brand too. Theo eyewear is different and distinctive. Customers that wear a Theo frame really stand out from the crowd. Just like Prue Leith from the Great British Bake Off. We enjoy tuning in to the series to see Prue’s choice of unique eyewear. We especially love the neon pink frame she wore in the last two series. It’s a Theo frame, and we have this model in store! Call in and ask to see the Theo Pendeloque.

L.G.R Eyewear as seen on Netflix’s The Sandman

One of our favourite classic collections, L.G.R eyewear is handmade in Italy with a beautiful family history. The Italian brand is also a favourite among celebrities. We think it’s because they are understated but beautifully hand-crafted using traditional artisan methods without branding logos screaming from the frame. It’s probably also why L.G.R frames are used so much within the movie and television industry.

The Sandman, a fantasy drama adaptation by Netflix of the comic books by Neil Gaiman, is currently trending all over social media. In the show, the character of the Corinthian (played by Boyd Holbrook) wears the Reunion Explorer by L.G.R, which we stock here at Respectacle, alongside the Reunion Honey, which he also sports in the series.

Celebrities love L.G.R

L.G.R also supply the eyewear for another Netflix show, Emily in Paris. And actors Tom Cruise and Simon Pegg have worn their eyewear in the Mission Impossible films. But it is not all about film sets and television shows. Celebrities enjoy wearing L.G.R, even when not in front of the camera. Actors Adam Driver and Colin Farrell (in Jambo), Paul Bettany (in Pilot Superleggero) and Michael Fassbender (in Raffaello) wear L.G.R eyewear. And sporting legends Maria Sharapova and Lewis Hamilton have been photographed wearing Dakhla.

British celebrities and personalities wear FEB31st and Coral Eyewear

FEB31st eyewear, our wooden collection, is also a hit with celebrities and sports personalities. Handcrafted in Italy from sustainable wood, FEB31st frames are made individually for each customer. Former footballer and now TV presenter Danny Mills is a huge fan of FEB31st bespoke frames, as is the multi-awarding winning chef and restauranteur Fernando Stovell. British 400-meter runner and commentator Iwan Thomas is also known to rock a few pairs of FEB31st frames from time to time.

Another brand we stock which celebrities love, is Coral Eyewear, an eco collection made from recycled plastic extracted from old fishing nets. With the environment and climate change on everyone’s mind, we need to be aware of where our eyewear comes from, the type of materials used in its manufacture and how environmentally friendly these products are. We think TV presenter Holly Willoughby and sports personality Jessica Ennis-Hill must agree with us. Both women are fans of the Coral Eyewear brand.

Wear the music with Vinylize

Not surprisingly, Vinylize is an eyewear brand beloved by musicians. Canadian singer/songwriter Shawn Mendes wears Vinylize ACDC Bone, while Scottish musician Lewis Capaldi looks every inch the pop star in Vinylize Teru sunglasses. Music icon Sir Elton John, Leicester’s own English rock band Kasabian and actor/comedian Sir Billy Connolly also wear distinctive frames from the Hungarian brand.
