With Christmas just around the corner, we’re sure most of you are now concentrating on your Christmas arrangements. Firstly, here in Market Harborough, we have a lovely high street full of great independent, high-quality shops. We’re lucky here; it’s not something you see in many towns or cities around the UK. Now more than ever, if we don’t support them, many might not make it through to the new year. Especially after the impact Covid has had and continues to have. So, we all need to help support them to keep our local high street alive and interesting.
Another reason why we’re keen to shop local is the prospect of travelling into a big city or visiting a big shopping mall isn’t as fun as it once was. Many people seem to think Covid is no longer a threat, which means shoppers perhaps aren’t quite as vigilant as they should be. So we’re choosing to stay away from busy shopping malls for another year.
Thirdly, as much as we enjoy shopping online, we like to browse and see what we’re buying for family and friends. It avoids the disappointment of ordering online and discovering what you’ve purchased isn’t quite what you expected. And lastly, why travel further afield when we have such a lovely array of shops right on our doorstep. Shopping local and supporting small independent businesses makes Christmas shopping a much more pleasurable experience.
